A WISDOM SHIFT IN THE JOB MARKET
In the May 12, 2003 issue of Time, Lisa Cullen writes about some interesting trends in today's job market. Her article, entitled "I Want Your Job, Lady," includes the sub-title, "In a sour economy, men are flocking to nursing, child care and other "female" professions." Here we have yet another instance of our problems taking us exactly where we need to go. The fact that such vocations, including the incredibly important work of teaching have historically been considered to be female professions reflects our cultural gender bias, economic inequity and collective blindness. Childcare, nursing the sick and educating our young are noble and challenging fields of endeavor that literally impact the evolution of human consciousness. These are no more exclusively female professions than CEO, construction worker, president or truck driver are exclusively male professions. As men claim the power of their gentle, nurturing spirit and women step into their rightful domain as leaders and visionaries, our world will continue to heal and transform at an ever-increasing rate. The balancing of masculine and feminine energies in the human soul is analogous and essential to the evolution of consciousness on planet earth. This inner awakening will help us to resolve much of the turmoil that plagues our world today. Such amazing beings we humans are, continually and often blindly stumbling toward the greatness that is our destiny.
