ARE YOU OPTIMIZING OR IMPEDING?
It seems that for many of us, the choice between optimism and pessimism is simply a matter of preference, and not a big deal. It is becoming increasingly clear, however, that choosing between the half full or half empty perspective may be one of the most important decisions you ever make—moment by moment, day by day. It’s not always an easy choice. A common cultural belief has been that the pessimist is actually more intelligent than the optimist. The skeptic and the cynic are often considered to be the most astute members of the group—just as the optimist is sometimes considered naïve, and blind to the realities of life. We find in the definition of optimism and pessimism that to be optimistic is to optimize, and to be pessimistic is to impede. At any given moment of any day, we are either optimizing or impeding our own and the planet’s positive evolution toward a more peaceful, wise and loving existence. Consider that a healthy, grounded optimism will allow you to take all of the facts and perspectives into consideration. The pessimist tends to be selective, and the grounded optimist can afford to look at the whole picture. Can you look at the big picture, leaving nothing out, and still hold a bright vision of healing and transformation? Keep looking until you can. We all need your help in optimizing peace and harmony on our planet.
